# Corley v. United States

## Holding used

Section 3501(c) leaves the McNabb–Mallory exclusionary rule operative for a federal confession made beyond the six-hour safe harbor, subject to the statutory allowance for reasonable delay considering transportation and distance; the court then asks whether presentment delay was unnecessary or unreasonable.

## Material limitation

The six-hour rule concerns confession admissibility and is not the Rule 5 presentment deadline or the Fourth Amendment probable-cause clock.
