# 18 U.S.C. § 3500 — Witness Statements

## Propositions supported

Section 3500 supplies the Jencks Act timing trigger, production motion, relation-to-testimony limit, in camera redaction procedure, refusal sanction, and statutory definition of a witness statement.

## Material limitations

The statute addresses government-witness statements in federal criminal prosecutions. It does not displace an independent constitutional disclosure duty, and Rule 26.2 has reciprocal and proceeding-specific coverage beyond the statute's trial formulation.
