# Transfer to cure want of jurisdiction

## Holding or rule used

Transfer when the filing court lacks jurisdiction, the receiving court could have heard the matter when filed, and transfer serves the interest of justice.

## Material limitation

Use only for the bounded proposition in the linked classification module. State-habeas holdings are not silently converted into complete § 2255 rules; judgment, filing history, ripeness, circuit procedure, timing, and requested relief remain separate where identified.

## Official source and pinpoints
